Sylvan Landau Founders Scholarship

The Sylvan Landau Founders Scholarship, of the Father of the Year Scholarship Fund, is awarded to a graduating high school senior in financial need who has achieved an average degree of academic excellence. This one-year award provides $5,000 for tuition, fees and books at any accredited college or university in the state of Texas, including but not limited to four-year universities and community colleges. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who intends to major in business or marketing.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
Eligible applicants must be graduating Seniors from a high school in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin or Denton counties in Texas. Applicants must be in good standing as students and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and either a minimum SAT score of 1500 (if taken January 2016 and earlier), a minimum SAT score of 1090 (if taken March 2016 and after), or ACT score of 22. Applicants must intend to pursue a degree in business or marketing at an accredited college or university in the state of Texas. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens or documented legal residents of the United States.

Selection is based on essay response, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential, and financial need.

Two letters of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s community participation, demonstrated leadership potential and financial need will be required. All applicants must also complete the FAFSA and submit an essay response.
